We would like to begin by acknowledging that we are in Mi’kma’ki , the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq People. This territory is covered by the “Treaties of Peace and Friendship” which Mi’kmaq and Wolastoqiyik (Maliseet) People first signed with the British Crown in 1725. The treaties did not deal with surrender of lands and resources but in fact recognized Mi’kmaq and Wolastoqiyik (Maliseet) title and established the rules for what was to be an ongoing relationship between nations.
U.C.S.C was founded in Wolfville, NS in unceded and unsurrendered Mi’kmaq territory. We,as friends to Mi’kmaqi and the peoples of Turtle Island, are all treaty people.
We consider our mandate a standard to be upheld by all artists, administrators, technicians, volunteers, and artistic associates.
We shall title our mandate: The UnRoyal Standard.
The UnRoyal Standard
The UnRoyal Canadian Stage Company was founded
to create new artistic works.
We seek to engage with the best artists, whomever they may be,
to best interpret the new theatrical work created by U.C.S.C.
We are dedicated to being the structure for the development, marketing, and production of these shows. The UnRoyal Canadian Stage Company works to create original theatrical material, as well as adapt classical and modern stories from across Turtle Island, and The World. We tell the stories our artistic associates want to tell, and create the productions to best serve our associations and community. UnRoyal is committed to operating with 7 Core Values;
Respect, Honesty, Bravery, Wisdom, Humility, Truth, and Love.
We seek to engage with fellow emerging artists, to support the new generation of artistic creators across Canada. We seek to learn together, develop our skills together, share our stories together. We wish our members to be artists. We wish for all artistic associates to contribute to the development of our projects, and to the professional development of themselves.
UnRoyal shall facilitate training, workshops, discussions, and rehearsals; all dedicated to the artistic and professional growth of its members.
UnRoyal was founded in Wolfville, Nova Scotia.
The founding members of UnRoyal were students together at Acadia University.
As Canadians we seek to bring our shows to all Provinces and Territories.
UnRoyal is dedicated to performing its work across Canada, Turtle Island, and the World.
Art must be made accessible to all people who wish to see it.
UnRoyal will bring it’s productions to those who wish to see them.
We create Art for this purpose.
We create because we can.
